Narrative
DAVENPORT, Iowa – Two individuals lost their lives in a high-speed crash in Davenport on Sunday.
The incident began when Davenport police observed a Chevrolet Impala recklessly speeding through the downtown area around 2 a.m. on Sunday. Attempting to pull the vehicle over in the vicinity of 7th and Division streets, officers soon found themselves in a high-speed pursuit as the vehicle accelerated away. Eventually, a decision was made to discontinue the chase due to safety concerns.
At 2:06 a.m., the vehicle was spotted continuing to speed eastbound, ultimately losing control at the intersection of 2nd and Gaines streets. The Impala veered off the road and crashed into a building located at 601 W. 2nd St. The driver, Cyrene McKinley, was rushed to a local hospital by Medic EMS, where he succumbed to his injuries. The passenger, Stevanna Rudolph, tragically lost her life at the crash scene.
