Narrative
POTTAWATAMIE CO., IA – One person died, and two people were hurt Saturday in a two-vehicle crash in southwestern Pottawattamie County.
Around 10:30 a.m. emergency teams reported to Wabash Avenue and Ashwood Road, which is about 15 miles east of Omaha.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a northbound 2004 Santa Fe entered the southbound side of Wabash Avenue and collided with a southbound 2023 Cadillac XT5.
Emergency crews worked to extricate the wrong-way driver, who succumbed to her injuries shortly after transport to an area hospital.
Medics transported the second driver and her 9-year-old passenger to an area hospital with non-critical injuries.
